Why Harmony?
The word harmony represents the commitment of Central Okanagan Public Schools to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for all individuals in our community.
When harmony is our goal, we make decisions and act in a way to make sure every individual in our community feels seen, valued, and included. We strive to ensure that all viewpoints are respected, even when we don’t share the same views.
Harmony represents the idea that we can celebrate diversity, not just accept it. Diversity enriches our schools, communities, and lives such that everyone can thrive holistically. Each diverse, individual note has its place in the song, and together, all the notes create beautiful harmony.
Harmony is the foundation on which all the other activities in education rest. When we have harmony, we create the best conditions for our learners and staff to thrive socially and emotionally.
We acknowledge that there are great efforts being made all over our district and community to create and encourage harmony. This website will highlight these efforts which will encourage strong unity throughout Central Okanagan Public Schools.
We hope you will find an abundance of resources to inspire you on your own path to Harmony.

We should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter their colour.
